275 Tribal Voters Join BJP in Tripura Ahead of ADC Elections

In a fresh political development ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections, 275 tribal voters from 55 families joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday. The joining programme took place at the party’s state headquarters in the Krishna Nagar area of Agartala.

BJP general secretary and Jana Jati Morcha leader Bipin Debbarma welcomed the new members and handed over the party flag to them. BJP media in-charge Sunit Sarkar and several party workers also attended the programme.

Among the new entrants were former Tipra Motha leaders Gurupada Debbarma and Udina Rupini. Five other local political figures also joined the BJP during the event. Their move signals a shift in the tribal political landscape before the council elections.

During the programme, the new members raised slogans such as “Bharat Mata Ki Jay”, “BJP Zindabad”, and “Narendra Modi Zindabad”. The atmosphere remained energetic throughout the event.

Moreover, the entrants promised to work actively for the BJP in the upcoming elections. They said they would help strengthen the party’s support base in tribal areas.

BJP Targets Strong Campaign in Tribal Areas

Speaking to reporters after the programme, Bipin Debbarma said many tribal voters feel frustrated with the current administration of the council. According to him, several communities want political change in the region.

He also claimed that dissatisfaction with the Tipra Motha leadership has grown in recent months. As a result, more tribal voters have started supporting the BJP.

Furthermore, Debbarma said the BJP has begun its campaign across ADC areas. The party plans to focus on development and governance issues during the campaign.

BJP to Contest All 28 Seats

Debbarma made it clear that the BJP will contest the council elections independently. He ruled out any possibility of an electoral alliance with the Tipra Motha party.

“The BJP will contest all 28 elective seats in the ADC elections,” he said. He also expressed confidence that the party would achieve a strong result.

Meanwhile, party leaders have intensified outreach programmes in tribal regions. They aim to expand the BJP’s organisational presence before the elections.

Political Activity Increases Before Polls

The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council plays a major role in governing tribal-majority areas of the state. Therefore, political parties treat the council elections as highly significant.

In recent weeks, political activities have increased across the council areas. Parties have started mobilising supporters and strengthening their grassroots networks.

The entry of 275 tribal voters into the BJP may influence the political equation in some areas. However, the final impact will become clear during the upcoming ADC elections.
