Assam School Principal Nabbed for Bribery in Nagaon

The Principal (In-charge) of Kaoimari Higher Secondary School in Nagaon, Assam, Bulbul Choudhury, was apprehended by the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption on Thursday. Choudhury is accused of soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs 1,500 from an individual.

Bribery Allegations Against School Principal

The arrest followed a complaint where Choudhury allegedly demanded Rs 3,000 as a bribe from an individual seeking updates to his service book and an order for a time scale increment. The complainant, unwilling to comply, reported the incident to the directorate, prompting a decisive action.

A trap was set by the authorities, resulting in Choudhury being caught red-handed accepting the bribe of Rs 1,500 at Kaoimari Higher Secondary School. The transaction occurred in the presence of independent witnesses.

The bribe money was promptly seized, and a case was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The evidence gathered during the operation led to the arrest of Choudhury, who is presently in police custody.
