Assam to Recruit 40,000 Youths in Mega Drive on October 10

Assam government job recruitment 2025

In a major employment push, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday announced that the state government will conduct a mega recruitment drive on October 10. The initiative will see 40,000 youths appointed to recruit government positions across various departments in a single-day recruitment exercise.

The drive is part of the state’s continued effort to fulfil its promise of creating one lakh government jobs. Additionally, strengthening public service delivery.

Massive Recruit Opportunity for Assam’s Youth

Speaking at an official event in Guwahati, CM Sarma said,

“We are committed to creating employment for our youth. On October 10, Assam will witness its largest-ever recruitment day, with 40,000 appointments made across departments like education, health, police, and administration.”

He added that this is part of a larger plan to build an efficient, transparent, and youth-driven bureaucracy.

The Assam Direct Recruitment Commission (ADRC) and other recruitment boards are currently working to finalise the list of selected candidates.

Recruitment Will Span Across Key Departments

According to state government sources, the Departments of Education, Health, Revenue, Panchayat, Home, and Social Welfare are among the key beneficiaries. Job roles will include teachers, nurses, clerks, police constables, and junior engineers, among others.

This recruitment effort is expected to reduce vacancies and improve administrative functioning at all levels.

Employment Commitment on Track

The Assam government had promised one lakh government jobs in its 2021 election manifesto. As of June 2025, more than 65,000 posts have already been filled, and the remaining will be completed in phases.

CM Sarma noted,

“We want to empower our youth. Jobs offer not only financial stability but also a path to serve the state and contribute to its growth.”

Digital and Transparent Recruit Selection Process

All recruitment will follow digital, merit-based, and transparent procedures, including written tests, skill assessments, and interviews where applicable. Further, the process will be monitored by the State Level Recruitment Commission.

The government also said that candidates’ biometric data and certificates would be verified before final appointment letters are issued.

Reaction from Aspirants and Public

The announcement has generated a wave of enthusiasm among job seekers in Assam. Moreover, youth organisations welcomed the move, calling it a “historic opportunity.”

Kritika Das, a TET-qualified candidate from Nalbari, said,

“This gives us hope. After years of uncertainty, we now have a real shot at employment.”

Local educators and parents also expressed relief, especially in rural areas where unemployment remains high.

The government believes this move will contribute significantly to Assam’s socio-economic development. Also, with improved manpower in departments like education and health, services in remote and underserved areas will see a boost.

It also aligns with CM Sarma’s larger vision of transforming Assam into a digitally-enabled, welfare-oriented, and high-growth state.

Recruit Under Process

All shortlisted candidates will be informed via SMS, email, and the official Assam Direct Recruitment Portal. Furthermore, the state government has advised applicants to regularly check updates and prepare their documentation in advance.
