Big Political Shake-Up in Tripura: BJP’s Jana Jati Morcha Gets Green Signal to Take on Tipra Motha

BJP’s tribal wing – Jana Jati Morcha – has been given a free hand by the party high command to aggressively expand its base across the tribal belts of the state. The move is seen as a direct counter to the growing clout of the regional powerhouse, Tipra Motha, whose “pressure and blackmail politics” have increasingly unsettled the ruling party.

A powerful delegation of the Jana Jati Morcha, led by MLA Ram Pada Jamatya and former MP Rebati Tripura, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi yesterday. According to top sources, Shah held a detailed, no-holds-barred discussion with the Morcha leaders on the challenges posed by Tipra Motha’s dominance in tribal areas.

🚨 The Allegations:
The Morcha leaders told Shah that Tipra Motha cadres have repeatedly used intimidation, violence, and disruption to block BJP’s expansion in tribal regions. They alleged that despite having significant ground-level support, their rallies and programs were often sabotaged by Motha’s workers at the behest of local leaders.

They also highlighted past poll results, including the 2018 Assembly elections and the 2021 ADC polls, to argue that a large section of the tribal electorate was still aligned with the BJP. But, they warned, Tipra Motha’s coercive tactics have prevented this support from translating into organizational strength.

🚨 The Counter-Strategy:
The leaders reportedly assured Amit Shah that the time is ripe for a major political and organizational comeback. With tribal communities increasingly frustrated over the ADC’s failure to deliver development despite heavy central funding, the Morcha is preparing to hit the ground with renewed aggression.

🚨 The Green Signal:
Sources confirmed that Shah gave the Jana Jati Morcha a free hand to push forward, assuring them that no hurdles will come in their way. Later, the delegation also held crucial talks with BJP’s national organizational secretary B.L. Santosh, who encouraged them to move full steam ahead.

Before returning to Tripura, the Morcha leaders are also expected to meet BJP national president J.P. Nadda for one more round of strategy talks.

👉 Political observers say this could mark the beginning of a high-voltage showdown between BJP’s tribal wing and Tipra Motha in Tripura’s hills—potentially reshaping the state’s political landscape ahead of future polls.
