Tripura Police have arrested a man from Bihar and seized cannabis worth Rs 25 lakh in the Kumarghat area under Unakoti District. The operation took place on Wednesday, July 19, when law enforcement officers, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a vehicle suspected of transporting illegal substances.

Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered a substantial quantity of cannabis hidden in concealed compartments. The arrested individual, identified as Ramesh Kumar, was immediately taken into custody and charged with drug trafficking. The contraband weighed approximately 50 kilograms, with an estimated street value of Rs 25 lakh.

Superintendent of Police, Unakoti District, S. K. Roy, commended the team for their swift action and vigilance. He emphasized the ongoing efforts of the Tripura Police to combat drug trafficking in the region. “This significant seizure is a testament to our commitment to curbing the illegal drug trade. We will continue to intensify our operations and maintain strict surveillance to prevent such activities,” Roy stated.
