BSF Jawan & Village Volunteer Injured in Manipur Firing

A Border Security Force (BSF) Jawan and a Village Volunteer sustained bullet injuries in separate armed incidents on Thursday, according to police reports.

BSF Jawan Injured in Sugnu

During his duty at Sugnu Higher Secondary School in Kakching district, a jawan from the 136 Battalion BSF D’ Coy suffered a bullet wound to the right side of his abdomen around 7:30 am on Thursday. He was promptly taken to Kakching district hospital for medical attention.

The Sugnu area witnessed heavy attacks, including bombings and gunfire allegedly from armed assailants hailing from Lailoiphai and Dongyang villages in Churachandpur District for the second consecutive day on Thursday. Both BSF and state forces, alongside volunteering groups, responded with retaliatory measures to fend off the attackers.

In a separate incident, a Village Volunteer known as Ningombam Angangtombam alias Rakesh (26), from Pukhao Khabam Awang Leikai under Imphal East district, sustained injuries in a firing incident at Pukhao Shantipur area in Khamenlok hill range bordering Imphal East and Kangpokpi Districts on Thursday.

The injured volunteer was swiftly transported to Raj Medicity Hospital in Imphal, where he received treatment for a bullet wound on his right leg.

Authorities are actively investigating both incidents, aiming to ensure the safety and security of all citizens in Manipur.
