Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha emphasized the vital role of engineers in development and nation building while attending the 58th Engineers’ Day celebration in Agartala. The event was jointly organized by the Public Works Department (PWD) and The Institution of Engineers (India), Tripura State Centre, at Prajna Bhavan.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Saha lauded engineers for their brilliance, dedication, and innovative spirit, noting that their contributions play a crucial role in shaping the future of both the state and the nation. He highlighted how engineers serve as the backbone of infrastructure development, ensuring progress in sectors ranging from roads and bridges to modern technology-driven solutions.
The Chief Minister stressed that Engineers’ Day is not only an occasion to honor the legacy of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, one of India’s greatest engineers, but also a moment to acknowledge the continuous efforts of present-day engineers who are leading the state’s development journey.
Speaking about Tripura’s progress, Saha noted that the contributions of engineers have been instrumental in implementing key projects under the state government’s vision for better connectivity, sustainable infrastructure, and public welfare. He also encouraged young engineers to innovate and adapt to modern technologies that can accelerate the pace of growth in Tripura.
The Engineers’ Day celebration witnessed participation from senior officials, engineers from various departments, and members of The Institution of Engineers (India), Tripura State Centre. Discussions at the event revolved around the importance of engineering excellence in creating durable infrastructure and fostering innovation to meet future challenges.
Engineers were also urged to uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and continue their service to society with commitment. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that Tripura’s engineering fraternity will remain at the forefront of transformative changes in the state’s developmental landscape.
The annual Engineers’ Day, celebrated nationwide on September 15, pays tribute to Sir M. Visvesvaraya, whose remarkable contributions in the field of engineering and water resource management continue to inspire generations. The day also serves as a reminder of the critical role engineers play in advancing India’s growth and technological progress.
