CM of Tripura Highlights Unity in Diversity on Occasion of Boishakhi Buddha Purnima Celebration

On May 5, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha inaugurated a program at Benuban Buddha Vihar in Agartala on the occasion of Boishakhi Buddha Purnima celebration. The Chief Minister emphasized the unity in diversity that is the eternal heritage of India, despite the presence of people of different religions, wealth and speaking languages in the country. He called for the principles of love, peace, harmony, non-violence and brotherhood taught by Lord Buddha to be followed in life, as they unite people.

The Prime Minister’s mantra of Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas, Sabka Biswas, Sabka Prayas was also highlighted by the Chief Minister as a guiding principle for the country’s development. He stated that such festivals strengthen the bonds of love between people of different backgrounds and called for everyone to come forward to build One Bharat Shrestha Bharat, One Tripura Shrestha Tripura.

The Chief Minister also announced that the government would play a positive role in the development of the Benuban Vihar Sukul and Center in Agartala. He urged people to work towards their holistic development, as when the soul, mind and body are properly developed together, human development takes place. This leads to people being able to come forward for the welfare of others.

The program was attended by various dignitaries, including MBB University Vice-Chancellor Satyadeo Poddar, Viveknagar-based Ramakshan Mission Editor Swami Shubakarananda Maharaj, Atlanta, USA Director of Mahabodhi Overseas Center Niyani Rakita, and Agartala Benuban Buddha Vihar Acting Incumbent Khemachra, among others. Tushar Kanti Chakma, Convener of Buddha Purnima Celebration Committee gave the welcome speech. West Tripura District Magistrate Devpriya Vardhan was also present on the occasion.

On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, the winners of the drawing competition were awarded. Chief Minister Benuban also planted a sapling of Nageshwar tree in the premises of Buddha Vihar, highlighting the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability.
