Manik Saha today took oath as the Chief Minister of Tripura for the second consecutive term after the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Tripura Assembly elections. Eight members of BJP and IPFT were sworn in Saha’s new cabinet. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda were also present at the swearing-in ceremony. 

Dentist-Turned-Politician 

Manik Saha is a dentist turned politician. He had joined BJP in the year 2016. Manik Saha, who studied BDS from King George’s Medical College in Lucknow, was made the Chief Minister of Tripura by the BJP only last year. He was given in place of Biplab Deb. Saha was also a sportsman and has been the head of the Tripura Cricket Association. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha before becoming the Chief Minister. It was only last year that the BJP made the Chief Minister of Tripura. He was given in place of Biplab Deb. Saha was also a sportsman and has been the head of the Tripura Cricket Association. Saha has also been the chief of BJP in Tripura between 2020 and 2022. 

Manik Saha was in Congress before BJP  

Manik Saha was in Congress before joining BJP. He Joined BJP in 2016. After joining BJP, he was given the responsibility of booth management committee and in-charge of state level membership drive. Manik Saha was elected Rajya Sabha MP just a month before becoming the CM. After being made CM, he left the membership of Rajya Sabha. 

Saha is the richest MLA of Tripura

This time he contested from West Tripura’s Town Bardowali assembly seat. Saha has total assets of Rs 13.90 crore. This includes movable assets worth Rs 1.10 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 12.80 crore. Chief Minister Saha has won the election this time by 1257 votes. He got 19586 votes while his nearest rival Ashish Kumar Saha of INC got 18329 votes.
