The Gadchiroli Police have inaugurated their 72nd public library under the “One Village, One Library” initiative. The library was opened in Jijgaon village, under the Mannerajaram police station in Bhamragad subdivision, around 7 km from Mannerajaram.
The initiative marks a significant transformation for the village, once known as a Maoist stronghold and home to Raju Velaji, Divisional Committee Member (DVCM) of Gatta Dalam, an active Maoist operative. Family members of Velaji and other residents witnessed this change as the village embraced education and community development over violence.

Conceptualized by Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police Neelotpal (IPS), the “One Village. One Library” program aims to nurture intellectual and creative growth in some of Maharashtra’s most remote and conflict-affected regions.
