A fatal road accident in Gandacherra subdivision of Tripura has left one SPO jawan dead and another critically injured. The incident took place on the busy Narayanpur–Gandacherra road, raising fresh concerns about road safety in the region.
According to police sources, Ajendra Tripura (31), who was serving as a Special Police Officer attached to the police court, was traveling toward Gandacherra town on his motorcycle. His friend, Shyam Kumar Tripura, accompanied him as a pillion rider.
At approximately 9:00 AM, their motorcycle collided head-on with a hired mini bus near Shitola Chaumuhuni. Reports suggest that the mini bus was moving at high speed. Consequently, Ajendra failed to steer away in time, leading to a direct and severe collision.
The impact of the crash was intense. Both riders were thrown off the motorcycle, while the vehicle itself was reportedly run over by the mini bus. Shockingly, the bus fled the scene immediately after the accident, leaving the victims critically injured on the road.
Local residents rushed to assist the injured men and transported them to Gandacherra Subdivisional Hospital. Doctors on duty provided immediate medical attention. However, despite efforts to save him, Ajendra Tripura succumbed to his injuries shortly after being admitted.
