Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce a special flood package for Assam, highlighting the hardships faced by lakhs of people still struggling to rebuild their lives after the devastating floods. In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Gogoi stressed the urgent need for additional financial assistance to accelerate relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts across the state.
The appeal comes as several flood-hit districts continue to recover from extensive damage caused by heavy rainfall and overflowing rivers. According to Gogoi, thousands of families remain displaced, critical infrastructure has suffered severe damage, and many communities are still awaiting long-term rehabilitation support.

In his letter, Gogoi said the scale of destruction caused by the floods requires immediate intervention from the Central Government. Furthermore, the Congress leader pointed out that lakhs of residents continue to face significant challenges despite ongoing rehabilitation efforts. He urged the Prime Minister to consider a dedicated financial package that would help Assam recover more effectively from the disaster.
Lakhs Continue to Struggle After Devastating Floods
Gogoi highlighted the widespread impact of the floods, stating that the disaster has resulted in loss of lives, missing persons, damaged homes, and destruction of public infrastructure.
