Guwahati’s Jiban Mazumder: Silver Medalist in International Photography

Guwahati, a city rich in cultural heritage, has recently celebrated the achievement of one of its own—Jiban Mazumder. Born on May 19, 1983, Jiban has demonstrated exceptional talent and passion in photography, earning him the Silver Medal in the International Art Competition organized by Janaritta Armooti Gallery and the Indian Embassy in Jordan in November 2023.

Jiban Mazumder embarked on his photographic journey in 2016, and his dedication to the art form has garnered numerous accolades. A proud resident of Guwahati, he holds degrees in commerce and sociology, complemented by a teaching career and, presently, a venture into event management through a cloud kitchen partnership.

Jiban’s journey to international recognition includes notable achievements, such as the Gold Medal in the North East Zone Photography Competition by Praffulla Dahanukar Art Foundation in 2016, and a Bronze Medal in the same competition in 2017. His photographic prowess also earned him the Gold Achievement Award in a competition organized by Dream Paintbrush in 2022 and the prestigious Platinum Award by Lalit Kala Kendra, Assam, in the International Photography Contest in February 2023.

Despite lacking a DSLR camera, Jiban captures captivating moments through his mobile camera, showcasing his exceptional skills. His success serves as an inspiration to aspiring photographers in Guwahati and beyond.

He represents India in Jordan, the city and its residents take pride in Jiban Mazumder’s remarkable achievements, wishing him continued success in his photographic endeavors.
