IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Alert for Tripura from August 21 to 25

Agartala: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Meteorological Centre, Agartala, has issued an advisory warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to affect several parts of Tripura between August 21 and August 25, 2025. The southern districts of the state are expected to witness particularly intense rainfall.

According to the IMD bulletin, on August 21, 22, and 23, South Tripura district may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall ranging from 7 to 20 cm at one or two places, while other districts are likely to record 7–11 cm of rainfall during the same period.

The forecast further indicates that on August 24 and 25, South Tripura, Gomati, and Sepahijala districts are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall (7–20 cm) at one or two locations. Other districts across the state are expected to receive heavy rainfall between 7 and 11 cm.

The IMD has urged residents to remain vigilant and cautious during this period, particularly in vulnerable and low-lying areas, as the heavy rainfall may lead to localized flooding, waterlogging, and disruption of normal life. Authorities have advised people to avoid unnecessary travel and to take necessary precautions to ensure safety.

With the monsoon at its peak, the state administration is reportedly coordinating with local authorities to monitor rivers, drainage systems, and other vulnerable zones to minimize risks.
