Authorities have directed all agencies to follow the timeline strictly. Specifically, they must complete the terminal building, apron, and utility works by December 31, 2026.
At the same time, officials instructed the Deputy Commissioner and PWD to fast-track the Social Impact Assessment for land acquisition. This step remains crucial for building the approach road connecting the National Highway.
Focus on Regional Connectivity
The Transport Department, along with AAI, discussed plans to expand air connectivity. In addition, they held talks with Alliance Air to start flights on the Imphal–Silchar route at the earliest.
Officials also explored the possibility of connecting Imphal with Dibrugarh. If implemented, this move will significantly improve regional air travel in Northeast India.
Cargo Terminal to Become Operational Soon
Officials inspected the new cargo terminal during the visit. They directed the project agency to install equipment quickly and make the facility operational by April 30, 2026.
Furthermore, the AAI Director must expedite security clearances from BCAS to avoid delays in cargo operations.
