Indian Army and Mizoram Collaborate for Veterans’ Cancer Treatment

The Indian Army and the Mizoram State Cancer Institute (MSCI) in Aizawl have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at facilitating cancer treatment for beneficiaries of the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), according to a statement released by the Indian Army.

The MoU, signed by the ECHS regional director on behalf of the Headquarters Eastern Command, Headquarters 101 Area, ECHS Central Organization, and the Director of MSCI, is poised to provide cashless and capless medical treatment to ECHS beneficiaries and their dependents across Mizoram. This includes ECHS beneficiaries associated with Assam Rifles, and the treatment will be offered at rates aligned with the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS).

This collaborative effort is set to address the challenges faced by beneficiaries who, until now, had to travel to other Northeast states, notably Assam, to access cancer treatment. The move is expected to bring relief to veterans and their dependents who previously had to navigate the logistical complexities of seeking treatment in distant locations.

To further streamline the process and ensure a seamless experience for beneficiaries at MSCI, the local military authority has established a dedicated help center at the hospital.

This initiative underscores the commitment of the Indian Army and the Mizoram State Cancer Institute to enhance healthcare accessibility for veterans and their families. By providing specialized cancer treatment locally, the collaboration aligns with the broader objective of the ECHS to deliver quality medical services to ex-servicemen and their dependents.

This strategic partnership not only addresses the immediate healthcare needs of veterans but also reflects the concerted efforts to improve the overall well-being of those who have served the nation. The MoU signifies a significant step towards fostering healthcare collaborations that directly benefit those who have dedicated their lives in service to the country.
