New Delhi, July 10, 2025 – In a proud and inspiring moment for India’s sporting community, international kickboxer Sudhir Saxena was honoured today by Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta for his outstanding achievements in martial arts and his continuous efforts toward social upliftment. The felicitation ceremony took place at the Delhi Secretariat, where the Chief Minister personally congratulated Sudhir for bringing glory to the nation and serving as a role model for India’s youth.
Sudhir, who hails from Lahasani village in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, recently made headlines by winning a bronze medal at the Asian Kickboxing Championships in Cambodia and a silver medal at the 4th India Open Kickboxing Championship held in New Delhi earlier this year. His victories have not only strengthened India’s standing in international martial arts but also inspired countless young athletes across the country.
A Symbol of Strength, Discipline, and Service
In her address, CM Rekha Gupta praised Sudhir’s unwavering dedication to sport and society:
“Sudhir Saxena is the embodiment of grit, grace, and giving back. He has fought for India in the ring and worked for the people outside it. Delhi is proud to honour such a true patriot and athlete.”
She also emphasized the importance of supporting athletes like Sudhir, who dedicate their lives not only to bringing medals home but also to building a better, more compassionate India.
From a Small Village to Global Recognition
Sudhir’s journey began in the modest surroundings of Lahasani village, where limited resources did not deter his dreams. Through years of disciplined training and sheer determination, he climbed the ranks of Indian kickboxing to represent the nation on international platforms.
But what truly sets Sudhir apart is his commitment to philanthropy and community service. He has collaborated with multiple NGOs for rural development, health awareness, education, and youth engagement. Whether it’s building programs for underprivileged children or participating in national health campaigns, Sudhir has consistently shown that a true athlete serves both on and off the field.
A Life Supported by Strong Pillars
In his acceptance speech, Sudhir expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering support that has fuelled his journey:
“This honour belongs to my family, friends, supporters, and the people who believed in me when I had nothing but a dream.”
He gave special thanks to his father, Mr. Suresh Saxena, whose guidance and discipline laid the foundation for his career, and to his wife, Priyanka Gautam, who has stood by him as a constant source of motivation and emotional strength.
Sudhir Saxena has received unwavering support from Mayank Madhur and Vijay Kumar, whose constant encouragement, belief, and motivation have been instrumental in fueling his journey — both as a sportsperson and a changemaker in society.
Sudhir also acknowledged the role of Punjab National Bank (PNB) and the Gauravi Foundation, led by Mahesh Verma and Summit Chaudhry, for their significant support in his journey as an athlete and a changemaker. Their belief in his potential enabled him to focus on training and social initiatives simultaneously.
An Inspiration for the Youth
Sudhir has long advocated for youth development and sports education, often conducting motivational sessions and training workshops across India. Today, as he stood beside the Chief Minister of Delhi, his message to the country’s young minds was powerful and clear:
“If I can come from a small village and represent India, so can you. All you need is discipline, courage, and a purpose bigger than yourself.”
Looking Ahead
Sudhir is already preparing for upcoming international kickboxing events and remains committed to combining sports with service. As he continues to win medals for the country, his deeper mission is to build a culture of strength, service, and social responsibility among India’s youth.
Sudhir Saxena’s honour by Delhi CM Rekha Gupta marks not just a celebration of athletic excellence, but a recognition of the powerful impact one person can have when they fight for both their nation and its people.
