IPFT Holds Joining Rally in Mungiakami Amid Tipra Motha’s ‘One Northeast, One Voice’ Event

A day after the much-publicised ‘One Northeast, One Voice’ rally at Swami Vivekananda Ground, Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarma expressed regret that the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) did not participate despite his call for unity under the banner of Thansa.

However, on the same day, the IPFT organised its own joining rally in the Mungiakami block, signalling its intention to consolidate organisational strength and counter Tipra Motha’s expanding influence.

Small but Strategic Gathering at Mungiakami

According to sources from Teliamura, the rally was led by Sunil Debbarma, chairman of the Mungiakami Block Advisory Committee (BAC). Held near Mungiakami Market, the event was organised under the initiative of the East Divisional Committee.

During the programme, 33 voters from 12 tribal families belonging to Haludia and Purba Laxmipur villages formally joined the IPFT. They accepted party flags from leaders present on the stage, marking their entry into the organisation.

IPFT Leaders Extend Welcome, Reaffirm Core Principles

Addressing the gathering, BAC chairman Sunil Debbarma and East Division chairman Ratan Debbarma warmly welcomed the new members. They urged more people from indigenous communities to join the party and support its mission.

The leaders emphasised that the IPFT continues to follow the core principles laid down by its founder Late Narendra Chandra Debbarma and other senior leaders. Both Sunil and Ratan highlighted the party’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the rights, welfare, and development of Tripura’s indigenous population.

Subtle Criticism of Tipra Motha’s Direction

Though they did not mention Tipra Motha directly, both leaders indirectly criticised the rival party’s recent political strategies. They suggested that Tipra Motha has deviated from its original goals and expressed confidence that the IPFT would regain strength through its continued organisational activities and people-centric programmes.

The leaders concluded the meeting by reaffirming that the IPFT would not compromise on its foundational ideology and would keep working to protect the interests of the indigenous communities in Tripura.
