Several job fraud cases have surfaced in Tripura, alarming unemployed youth across the state. Organised scam groups allegedly cheated job seekers by promising government jobs in exchange for money. The fraudsters used the name of the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) to gain credibility.
According to official sources, the scammers contacted aspirants through phone calls and WhatsApp messages. They posed as intermediaries with links to government departments. By promising “guaranteed” jobs, they pressured candidates to act quickly. Many victims reportedly paid large sums after receiving fake appointment letters.

TSECL Denies Any Involvement
After the reports emerged, TSECL issued a strong public warning. The corporation clearly stated that it has no role in such activities. Officials said that no one has the authority to offer jobs in TSECL in return for money.
TSECL urged job seekers to report anyone making such claims. The corporation warned that fraudsters are misusing its name to deceive the public. Authorities advised victims to approach the police without delay.
Recruitment Is Merit-Based and Transparent
TSECL Managing Director Biswajit Basu explained the official recruitment process to counter the false claims. He said the corporation received 4,430 applications for 104 engineering posts. These vacancies span several categories.
Basu stressed that TSECL follows a transparent and merit-based selection system. Candidates must qualify in a written examination. Shortlisted candidates then appear for a viva voce. The corporation does not select anyone outside this process.
Trust Only Official Notifications
TSECL clarified that it releases all recruitment information through official channels only. These include leading newspapers and the corporation’s website, www.tsecl.in. The corporation never sends appointment letters through WhatsApp, phone calls, or personal emails.
Officials advised aspirants to verify every job-related update from trusted sources. They also warned against dealing with agents or middlemen who claim influence in recruitment matters.

TSECL emphasized that public awareness plays a crucial role in stopping job fraud. Unemployed youth should remain alert and cautious. They should not pay money for job offers under any circumstances.
With job scams rising in Tripura, authorities urged citizens to stay vigilant. TSECL reaffirmed its commitment to fair recruitment and transparency. The corporation also warned that it will take strict legal action against anyone found misusing its name.
