Maipak Sports Digital Centre: Boosting Manipuri Athletes

In a bid to enhance the overall well-being of Manipuri athletes, Chief Minister N Biren Singh unveiled the Maipak Sports Digital Experience Centre (MMSDC) at the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in Imphal, Manipur. This center, established through a collaboration with Samsung Data System India Pvt Ltd and Abhitech IT Solutions Pvt Ltd, aims to provide essential support and resources for athletes during their training.

Acknowledging Achievements and Promoting Welfare

The MMSDC will serve as a valuable resource hub for athletes, offering information about successful sportspersons from the state, their notable achievements, and various government schemes designed to promote athlete welfare. This initiative is a crucial step toward fostering a supportive environment for athletes and facilitating their growth and development.

Chief Minister Singh emphasized the significance of the centre, naming it after the legendary Manipuri bodybuilder Nongthombam Maipak Singh. Maipak Singh’s achievements, including winning the Mr India title in 1970 and securing the 10th position at the Mr Universe competition in 1971, make him an iconic figure in Manipuri sports history.

The establishment of the MMSDC resulted from a Memorandum of Understanding signed with Samsung Data System India Pvt Ltd and Abhitech IT Solutions Pvt Ltd. This collaborative effort reflects a commitment to leveraging technology and information to enhance the training experience and well-being of Manipuri athletes.

The primary goal of the Maipak Sports Digital Experience Centre is to provide a comprehensive support system for athletes, addressing both their mental and physical wellness. By offering a centralized platform for information and resources, the centre aims to contribute to the holistic development of Manipuri sports talents.
