Major Tripura Anti-Narcotics Operation: Rs 1.90 Crore Seized

In a significant crackdown on narcotics, collaborative efforts by Tripura Police, BSF, Assam Rifles, and CRPF have led to the arrest of four individuals and the confiscation of Yaba tablets and cannabis valued at over Rs 1.90 crores.

BSF’s Night Operation: 7800 Yaba Tablets Seized in Sepahijala District

During the night of January 8-9, the BSF, intensifying efforts to combat trans-border smuggling in Tripura, successfully confiscated 7800 Yaba tablets worth Rs 39 lakhs in the Sonamura sub-division of Sepahijala district. The operation also led to the rescue of six cattle and the seizure of 620 kgs of sugar and other contraband items valued at Rs 50.74 lakhs. A joint effort with Customs Agartala and Sonamura resulted in the arrest of one suspect during a house search in Kulubari village, along with the seizure of an additional 7800 Yaba tablets.

Tripura Police Action in North District: Two Arrested with Rs 33 Lakhs Worth Yaba Tablets

In a separate operation on Tuesday, Tripura police in the North district arrested two individuals and seized Yaba tablets valued at Rs 33 lakhs. The arrest occurred on the western Ghat of Kalibari Dighi at Dharmanagar, where two suspects, Bahar Uddin (24) and Sultan Ahmed (21) from Patharkandi in Assam, were intercepted while attempting to sell 7000 Yaba tablets with a black market value exceeding Rs 35 lakhs.

Cannabis Seizure in Dhalai District: Twelve-Wheeler Truck Intercepted

In Dhalai district, Tripura police, in collaboration with Assam Rifles and CRPF, intercepted a twelve-wheeler truck based on intelligence input. The truck, traveling from Agartala, was searched at Betbagan Naka under Ambassa in Dhalai district, revealing 1630 kgs of dry cannabis packed inside parcels of dried rubber sheets. The detained driver, Kuldeep Singh, is in custody, and the seized cannabis is estimated to be worth around Rs 1 crore.
