Mandeep Singh Parts Ways with Tripura After One Season

Ahead of the 2025–26 domestic season, experienced batter Mandeep Singh has announced his departure from the Tripura cricket team, bringing an end to his association with the side after just one year.

Confirming the news through an Instagram post, Mandeep expressed his gratitude to the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) for giving him the opportunity to represent the state in the previous season.

Thank you, Tripura CA, for giving me the opportunity to play last season. I enjoyed my time there. Made some wonderful memories on and off the field. Wishing the team success for the upcoming season. Looking forward to the next chapter,” Mandeep wrote.

The 33-year-old right-hander, who was also entrusted with the captaincy, played a leading role for Tripura across all formats during the 2024–25 domestic campaign. He featured in six Ranji Trophy matches, six Vijay Hazare Trophy games, and seven Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy fixtures, bringing both experience and consistency to the side.

Despite Tripura’s failure to advance beyond the group stages in all three tournaments, Mandeep emerged as one of the team’s standout performers. In the Ranji Trophy, he showcased his class and temperament by scoring an unbeaten 124 and registering five half-centuries, remarkably crossing the fifty-run mark in every match he played. His reliability with the bat was a rare positive for Tripura in an otherwise challenging campaign.

In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Mandeep continued his fine touch with the bat, recording three fifties, including a fluent 94 against Bengal. His contributions extended into the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he added two more half-centuries, further cementing his role as a dependable performer in the shortest format.

Mandeep’s decision to move to Tripura in 2024 had raised eyebrows, as it marked the end of his 15-year association with Punjab, a team with which he had grown as a professional cricketer and served as a key figure in the batting order. His stint with Tripura, though short, highlighted his adaptability and leadership qualities.

With his exit confirmed, speculation now surrounds his next destination. While Mandeep has not yet revealed which team he will represent in the upcoming domestic season, his consistent form and vast experience make him a valuable asset for any side seeking solidity in the middle order.

Known for his calm presence at the crease and ability to anchor innings, Mandeep has long been regarded as one of the most reliable batters on the Indian domestic circuit. Over the years, he has built a reputation not only as a consistent run-scorer but also as a leader capable of guiding younger players in pressure situations.
