Experienced batter Mandeep Singh has announced his departure from the Tripura cricket team, ending his association with the side after just one season.
The 33-year-old confirmed the news through an Instagram post on Friday, expressing gratitude to the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) for the opportunity to represent the state during the 2024–25 domestic season.
“Thank you, Tripura CA, for giving me the opportunity to play last season. I enjoyed my time there and made some wonderful memories on and off the field. Wishing the team success for the upcoming season. Looking forward to the next chapter,” Mandeep wrote.
During his stint, the right-handed batter also captained the side and emerged as one of Tripura’s standout performers across formats. He played six Ranji Trophy matches, six Vijay Hazare Trophy games, and seven Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy fixtures, adding both experience and consistency to the squad.
In the Ranji Trophy, Mandeep registered an unbeaten 124 along with five half-centuries, remarkably crossing the fifty-run mark in every match. He carried his form into the Vijay Hazare Trophy with three fifties, including a fluent 94 against Bengal, and followed up with two more half-centuries in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Despite his individual brilliance, Tripura failed to progress beyond the group stages in all three tournaments.
Mandeep’s move to Tripura in 2024 had surprised many, as it ended his 15-year-long association with Punjab. His short spell in Tripura, however, showcased his adaptability, leadership, and ability to guide younger players.
With his exit now confirmed, speculation is rife about his next destination. While he has not yet revealed which team he will join, his proven consistency and vast domestic experience make him a strong prospect for sides looking to strengthen their middle order.
Mandeep remains one of Indian domestic cricket’s most reliable batters, known for his composure under pressure and ability to anchor innings.
