Chief Minister Attends Blood Donation Camp at IGM Hospital
Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday attended a blood donation camp at the Agartala Government Nursing College, located at IGM Hospital. During the event, he praised the progress made in the state’s healthcare sector under the BJP-led government.
The programme took place at the Florence Nightingale Auditorium in Agartala. Addressing students, healthcare workers, and donors, Dr. Saha stressed the importance of voluntary blood donation and thanked participants for their contribution.

Advanced Medical Care Now Available Within Tripura
The chief minister said patients in Tripura no longer need to travel outside the state for advanced medical treatment. He highlighted major investments aimed at improving tertiary healthcare facilities.
Dr. Saha referred to the upcoming ₹250 crore super-speciality block at GB Pant Hospital. The facility will follow a corporate-style design and offer advanced treatment options. He described the project as a major milestone for Tripura’s public healthcare system.
Recognition for Medical and Dental Institutions
Dr. Saha said visiting inspectors often praise the infrastructure of the state’s Dental College. According to him, many inspectors acknowledge that its facilities surpass those of institutions in other states.
He also announced that the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has approved a dedicated Mother and Child unit at IGM Hospital. In addition, the government is setting up a 100-bed tertiary eye hospital near ILS Hospital, attached to Agartala Government Medical College.
Expansion of AYUSH Education in the State
The chief minister revealed that the government has sanctioned ₹75 crore each for proposed Homeopathic and Ayurvedic colleges in Tripura. Authorities have already identified and earmarked land for both institutions.
“These initiatives reflect our strong commitment to strengthening healthcare and medical education across Tripura,” Dr. Saha said.
Heritage Hotel Project to Boost Tourism
Beyond healthcare, Dr. Saha announced a major tourism initiative in Agartala. The state government, in collaboration with the TATA group, will develop a heritage five-star hotel at the historic Pushpavanta Palace.
The project aims to attract foreign tourists and promote Tripura as a premium travel destination. According to the chief minister, the hotel will create around 200 direct employment opportunities. The government also plans to construct four new flyovers to ease traffic congestion in the city.
PRTC System to Safeguard Local Employment
Speaking on employment issues, Dr. Saha highlighted the introduction of the Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificate (PRTC) system. He said the policy ensures priority for local candidates in government jobs.
The chief minister accused opposition parties of spreading false information about outsiders taking government posts. He reiterated that the PRTC system protects the interests of Tripura’s youth.
Opposition Criticised Over Teacher Issue
Dr. Saha referred to the long-standing issue of 10,323 terminated teachers. He blamed the previous government for their situation and said the current administration inherited the problem.
He urged the opposition to stop misleading the public and focus on constructive politics.
Focus on Tribal Empowerment
Addressing tribal development, Dr. Saha credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for launching initiatives that empower tribal communities nationwide.
He cited the election of President Droupadi Murmu and the appointment of Jishnu Dev Varma as Governor of Telangana as examples of inclusive leadership. He also noted that several tribal personalities from Tripura have recently received Padma Shri awards, a first for the state.
Vision for a “New Tripura”
Taking aim at critics, the chief minister said people can now see development on the ground. He added that citizens no longer believe what he called “empty and rotten words” of the opposition.
Dr. Saha pledged to build a “new Tripura” through collective effort and inclusive development.
Appeal for Voluntary Blood Donation
Concluding his address, the chief minister thanked all blood donors. He stressed that blood transcends caste and religion and urged citizens to donate regularly.
“Blood donation saves lives. We must ensure our blood banks remain well-stocked,” he said.
