Manik Sarkar Stresses on Upholding CPI(M) Principles in Political Decision-Making and Critiques Alliance with Congress

Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, a politburo member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)), emphasized the significance of upholding the party’s principles and ideals in all political decision-making. Speaking at a program in Agartala Town Hall on the occasion of Vladimir Lenin’s 154th birth anniversary, Manik stated that compromising on the party’s basic principles and ideology would lead to failure, a fact that has been repeatedly proven. While Manik did not specifically mention the CPI(M)’s alliance with the Congress in the last assembly election in Tripura, his remarks are being interpreted as a critique of the alliance.

Manik further expressed concern over the current rule of right-wing forces like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in India, stating that the party is undermining the nation’s fabric and ideals of secularism, democracy, and socialist thinking. He emphasized that the only way to fight against this is through the ideological strength of the left and called on all left workers to remain steadfast in their convictions for a strong comeback. Manik’s remarks reflect the party’s commitment to its ideological principles amid the changing political landscape in Tripura and the country.
