Manipur CM Inaugurates Thoubal Court Annex, Pledges Judicial Strengthening

In a commitment to bolster the judicial system in Manipur, Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated the annex building for the Court of District and Sessions Judges at Thoubal Court Complex. Located approximately 30 km from Imphal, the G+3 Annexe Building aims to enhance working conditions for judges and court staff while providing improved facilities for litigants.

Strengthening Manipur’s Judicial System

Singh highlighted the crucial role of a strong and independent judiciary in fostering a just and equitable society. The government is taking steps to enhance the judicial system by improving court infrastructure, increasing the number of judges, and providing enhanced training for judicial officers.

Focus on Infrastructure Development

The newly inaugurated annexe building, constructed at a cost of Rs 8.8 crore, is expected to enhance working conditions for judges and court staff while offering improved facilities for litigants. In addition to Thoubal, the government is actively constructing new court complexes in Tamenglong, Kakching, and Senapati.

Future Plans for Judicial Expansion

Furthering its commitment to legal infrastructure, the Manipur government is planning to establish a District & Sessions Court in Jiribam and a single Court building in Mao, along with judicial quarters. Advocate TK Singh, President of the Manipur Bar Association, emphasized the significance of a Law University in Manipur, providing local students with opportunities for legal education within the state.
