The drivers also sought compensation for injured personnel and damage to vehicles. They called for clearer security arrangements for petroleum convoys travelling through sensitive areas.

Drivers Call Off Steering-Down Agitation
The petroleum product drivers later called off their steering-down agitation following assurances from Chief Minister Khemchand Singh.
The drivers welcomed the Chief Minister’s assurance of monetary compensation for seriously injured drivers. Following the decision, they resumed the loading of petrol and diesel at the Malom Depot.
They also resumed LPG loading at the Sekmai Bottling Plant. Transportation of loaded petroleum products from Jiribam to Imphal also restarted.
However, the association had initially said that petroleum tanker and LPG bullet drivers would not join empty convoy movements until they met the Chief Minister and other stakeholders. That meeting was expected to address their remaining concerns.
Malom Depot Remains Important for Fuel Supply
The Malom Oil Depot plays an important role in Manipur’s fuel distribution system. Regular replenishment at the depot helps maintain supplies for retail outlets and consumers.
The Manipur IOCL Retail Outlet Dealers Association has also urged authorities to strengthen security for petroleum tankers and their drivers. The association called for adequate fuel stocks at the Malom depot.
It also requested greater movement of IOCL tankers along National Highway-37. The association said uninterrupted transportation would help prevent prolonged shortages at retail outlets.
The dealers’ association also called for better communication about stock levels, loading schedules and contingency arrangements. Such information can help dealers plan their supplies more effectively.

Several senior officials attended the Chief Minister’s meeting. They included ADGP I.K. Muivah, Special Secretary (Home) Ahanthem Subash and Director of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Yumnam Nelson.
Ahongshangbam Tamphayai, president of the Core Committee on Petroleum Products, also attended the meeting. Other officials connected with petroleum supply and transportation took part in the discussions.
