Officials said the arrests took place during coordinated operations carried out in and around Imphal. Security personnel also recovered several incriminating items during the raids. The police believe the operation marks a significant breakthrough in their ongoing campaign against insurgent networks operating in Manipur.

Alongside the militant crackdown, the police also carried out action against illegal liquor smuggling activities in Imphal West district. A separate operation led to the arrest of a liquor bootlegger from Lamsang Bazar.

Police Arrest KCP (PWG) Founder Chairman

According to police officials, the founder chairman of the banned KCP (PWG) group was apprehended during a special operation conducted by security forces in Imphal. Authorities also detained four cadres linked to the organisation.

The police stated that the arrested individuals were allegedly involved in unlawful activities linked to the banned outfit. Investigators are currently questioning the accused to gather further information regarding their network and operations.

Officials said the security forces have intensified intelligence-based operations to dismantle militant groups active in the region. The latest arrests came after sustained surveillance and monitoring by the police and other security agencies.

The police have not disclosed complete operational details due to the ongoing investigation. However, officials confirmed that the operation formed part of a larger effort to restore peace and stability in Manipur.

Security experts believe such arrests weaken the organisational structure of insurgent groups and disrupt their activities in sensitive regions.

Security Operations Intensified Across Manipur

The Manipur Police has continued conducting search operations and intelligence-based raids in several districts of the state over recent months.

Authorities said security personnel remain focused on preventing extortion, illegal arms movement, and militant recruitment. The police have also increased coordination with central security forces operating in Manipur.

Officials stated that regular operations help maintain law and order while discouraging unlawful activities in vulnerable areas. The police department has repeatedly appealed to residents to cooperate with security agencies and report suspicious movements.

According to security officials, the recent operation in Imphal reflects the government’s broader strategy to strengthen internal security and maintain public safety.

The police also said investigations are underway to determine whether the arrested individuals had links with other groups or criminal activities in the region.

Liquor Bootlegger Arrested in Imphal West

In another operation, the Manipur Police apprehended a 30-year-old man from Lamsang Bazar in Imphal West district for alleged involvement in liquor bootlegging.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Mutum Inao Singh, a resident of Tronglaobi Awang Leikai. The arrest took place on May 13 under the jurisdiction of Lamsang Police Station.

Police officials stated that security personnel seized around 250 litres of DIC liquor along with a vehicle from his possession during the operation.

In an official statement, the police said, “On 13th May 2026, Police apprehended a liquor bootlegger, Mutum Inao Singh (30) of Tronglaobi Awang Leikai, from Lamsang Bazar under Lamsang-PS in the Imphal West district.”

Authorities added that the seized liquor and vehicle have been taken into custody for further investigation. Legal action has also been initiated against the accused under relevant laws.

Police Continue Crackdown on Illegal Activities

The recent arrests highlight the continued efforts of the Manipur Police to tackle both insurgency-related activities and organised illegal trade in the state.

Officials said bootlegging and illegal liquor transportation remain serious concerns because they often contribute to criminal activities and public disorder. The police department has increased surveillance in vulnerable areas to identify and stop such operations.

At the same time, security forces continue monitoring militant activities across Manipur. Authorities believe strict enforcement and regular operations remain necessary for maintaining peace in the region.

Police officials stated that the administration remains committed to taking strong action against individuals involved in unlawful activities. They also warned that security agencies would continue conducting operations against anti-social elements.

Residents in several areas have welcomed the intensified security operations and expressed hope for improved law and order in the state.

Government Focuses on Law and Order

The Manipur government has repeatedly stressed the importance of maintaining security and stability across the state. Over the past year, authorities have increased efforts to control violence, insurgency, and organised crime.

Political observers say coordinated operations by police and security agencies have become a major part of the government’s law-and-order strategy.

The administration has also encouraged public cooperation in identifying illegal activities and preventing criminal networks from operating freely.

Security experts believe the arrest of key members linked to banned outfits can significantly impact militant operations in the region. They also noted that consistent action against organised illegal trade remains essential for long-term stability.

Meanwhile, investigations into both the militant arrests and the liquor bootlegging case are continuing. Police officials said further details may emerge after questioning the accused individuals.

As security operations continue across Manipur, authorities remain focused on strengthening public safety and preventing activities that threaten peace and stability in the state.
