Mizoram has hosted its first Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Conclave in Aizawl. Chief Minister Lalduhoma urged companies to increase their CSR investments in the state. The conclave brought together corporate representatives, government officials, banks, NGOs and development organisations.
The Mizoram CSR Cell and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) jointly organised the event. The conclave carried the theme “Collaborate, Contribute, Create Impact.” It aims to build stronger partnerships between companies and the Mizoram government.

Lalduhoma Invites Companies to Invest in Mizoram
Addressing the conclave, Lalduhoma invited companies to explore CSR opportunities in Mizoram. He highlighted the state’s peaceful environment, high literacy rate and social harmony.
The chief minister said India receives around ₹34,000 crore in CSR funds every year. However, the Northeast receives only a small share of this funding.
Lalduhoma urged companies to look beyond the major industrial states. He asked them to consider Mizoram when planning their CSR activities.
The chief minister also said corporate partnerships can support important development needs. These partnerships can help the state improve services and create opportunities for local communities.
State Presents 85 CSR Projects
The Mizoram CSR Cell has identified 85 projects for potential corporate investment. Government departments presented these projects during the conclave.

Minister of State for Labour, Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Lalnghinglova Hmar also called for greater corporate participation.
Hmar said Mizoram receives a relatively small amount of CSR funding compared with several other states. He encouraged companies to consider the Northeast when planning their CSR initiatives.
The minister also pointed to improvements in connectivity. Better roads, rail links and digital connectivity are making Mizoram more accessible.
He said companies can become development partners by supporting targeted projects across the state.
Earlier CSR Projects Show Results
Lalduhoma also highlighted the outcome of an earlier CSR workshop.
The Mizoram CSR Cell and CII organised the workshop last year. The event helped create two CSR projects in the state.
These projects include the New Age Technology Labs Project and the Darzo Ground Water Recharge Project.
The chief minister cited these initiatives as examples of successful cooperation between the government and the corporate sector.
He expressed hope that the first CSR conclave would create more such partnerships.
SBI Announces CSR Support
The conclave has already resulted in new corporate commitments.
The State Bank of India (SBI) announced plans to provide a garbage collection truck to the Mizoram government through its CSR programme.
The initiative will support waste management efforts in the state.

HDFC Bank Supports Aizawl Civil Hospital
HDFC Bank also announced CSR support during the conclave.
The bank will support the vertical extension of the Aizawl Civil Hospital Trauma Centre building.
The additional space will accommodate nephrology and urology wards. The project will expand the hospital’s capacity to provide specialised healthcare services.
