A delegation from NITI Aayog, led by VK Saraswat, commenced a three-day state visit to Tripura, aiming to bolster collaborative efforts between the central and state governments for integrated and sustainable development. On Tuesday, the delegation engaged in a strategic meeting with Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha at his official residence to discuss and outline key initiatives.
The meeting underscored the importance of joint endeavors to strengthen local initiatives, eliminating regional constraints to propel overall state development. Chief Minister Dr. Saha highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unwavering commitment to the Northeast’s development, resulting in substantial growth across health, communication, information technology, and tourism infrastructure.
Dr. Saha emphasized Tripura’s rich natural resources, including rubber, agar, bamboo, natural gas, pineapple, and jackfruit. The state government is actively working on leveraging these resources for industrial growth and sought comprehensive cooperation from NITI Aayog in this endeavor.
The Chief Minister elaborated on advancements in road, rail, and air communication systems, with additional national highways and ropeways receiving approval. He also outlined the government’s focus on enhancing healthcare services, including the establishment of trauma care centers and plans for new health institutions following a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
Addressing reporters after the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Saha shared insights into discussions on advancing the state in agriculture, health, IT, communication, and tourism. The NITI Aayog delegation expressed satisfaction with Tripura’s development parameters and provided guidance on addressing sector-specific challenges.
NITI Aayog member VK Saraswat praised Tripura’s progress amidst challenges and reiterated the organization’s commitment to offering full cooperation in overcoming developmental hurdles. The delegation advised the state government to focus on priority areas, encourage public-private partnerships, and attract investors for overall development.

In a separate meeting at the Secretariat, Dr. VK Saraswat lauded Tripura’s substantial progress and expressed NITI Aayog’s commitment to providing full cooperation in swiftly addressing developmental challenges. The delegation, comprising diverse expertise, will continue to explore opportunities and address challenges during its visit to Tripura.
