Northeast Frontier Railway Extends Agartala-Secunderabad Special Train Service to Accommodate Passenger Rush

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has taken a decision to extend the service of the weekly Agartala-Secunderabad-Agartala special train from June 5 to August 4, 2023, in order to cater to the increased number of passengers during this period. The train will continue to operate with the same stoppages, timings, and revised composition as before. Additionally, the services of the Secunderabad-Agartala special train have also been extended to run from June 5 to July 31, 2023.

As per the schedule, the train departs from Secunderabad at 4:35 pm every Monday and reaches Agartala at 3 am on Thursday. Similarly, in its return journey, the Agartala-Secunderabad special train will run from June 9 to August 4, 2023. The train departs from Agartala at 6:10 am every Friday and arrives at Secunderabad at 4:15 pm on Sunday.

To meet the demands of the local population, the NFR has decided to provide stoppages of the Agartala-Silchar-Agartala Express at Jogendranagar, Jirania, and Manu stations on an experimental basis, starting from May 20, 2023. This move aims to facilitate easier travel for the local residents and fulfill their transportation needs.

The inaugural service with the new stoppages was flagged off on Saturday from Jirania station by Tripura’s Minister of Transport and Tourism, Sushanta Chowdhury. The event was attended by local passengers and railway officials. With the inclusion of these new stoppages, the Agartala-Silchar Express will arrive at Jogendranagar at 11:10 am, Jirania at 11:26 am, and Manu at 12:59 pm.

During its return journey, the Silchar-Agartala Express will arrive at Manu at 1:59 pm, Jirania at 3:30 pm, and Jogendranagar at 3:47 pm. The stoppage duration at each station will be one minute to ensure a smooth and timely journey for passengers.

The extension of the Agartala-Secunderabad special train service and the introduction of new stoppages for the Agartala-Silchar Express reflect the NFR’s commitment to meeting the growing demands of passengers in the region. The decision to extend the service period is in response to the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during this time, allowing more people to avail themselves of convenient travel options.
