The flood situation in the Subarnarekha river has become serious due to the low-pressure rainfall in the state. Although the embankment of the Subarnarekha river has not broken anywhere, four blocks of the Baleshwar district are badly affected by the floods.
At the same time, till date 9 lakh, 76 thousand people of 2489 villages of 645 panchayats under 78 blocks of 13 districts of the state have been affected by the floods. Out of this, 6 lakh 40 thousand people of 902 villages are still under water.
State Water Resources Minister Tukuni Sahu, after reviewing the floods, informed the media that there is no crack in the Subarnarekha river. If there is any crack, then sand sacks are kept ready for repair. The water level of the Subarnarekha river has remained stable for the last 8 hours.
The water level is receding in low-lying areas including Basta and Baliapal. Flood waters in other rivers have also started receding. The situation is being monitored. However, today is an important day for the districts falling in the Subarna Rekha river zone. For this, due to being here even today, everyone is on high alert. He said that emphasis is also being laid on night patrolling.
According to the information received from the department, the water level at Jamshol Ghat is 50.4 meters and at Raj Ghat is 11.90 meters and the water level in both places is decreasing. Around 40,000 people have been shifted to safe shelters from low-lying areas in Baleshwar.
So far, 2489 villages of 645 panchayats in 78 blocks of 13 districts (including Baleshwar) have been affected by the floods. 6 lakh 40 thousand people of 902 villages of the state are still trapped in the water. About 9 lakh 76 thousand people have been affected by the floods.
Cooked food is being provided to 1.71 lakh people in 440 relief centers in all these areas. 16 NDRF, 17 ODRF, and 55 additional fire brigades have been deployed in 11 districts.
5 lakh 61 thousand 418 electricity consumers have been affected by the floods, while 5 lakh 21 thousand 560 consumers have been given electricity connections.
2.93 lakh water bottles and 12.29 lakh water pouches have been distributed in the flood-affected areas. It also includes 203 mobile water tanks.
210 medical relief centers have been opened by the health department while 125 mobile health teams have been deployed. 1.22 lakh ORS packets, and 5.38 lakh halogen tablets have been distributed. Till date, 23367 people have been given medical aid. 32 snakebite victims have been treated.
Similarly, 193 veterinary teams are deployed in flood-affected areas. 407 camps have been set up and more than 18,000 animals have been treated. According to the information received from the department, 913.92 metric tonnes of cow food has been provided to 10 districts.
