Passenger Assaults IndiGo Pilot Amidst Flight Delay Chaos

In a disturbing incident aboard an IndiGo flight (6E-2175) en route from Delhi to Goa, a passenger, identified as Sahil Kataria, physically assaulted the aircraft’s co-captain, Anup Kumar, amidst announcements of delays caused by dense fog on Sunday.

The assault transpired as the pilot informed passengers about the extended delays due to adverse weather conditions. The viral video captured the moment when a man in a yellow hoodie abruptly approached from the last row, punching the flight’s co-captain. Anup Kumar had replaced the previous crew due to Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) norms, ensuring adequate rest periods for pilots and flight attendants.

Following the assault, Sahil Kataria was swiftly removed from the plane and handed over to the authorities. The pilot filed a complaint, and the airline is in the process of officially filing a case against the assailant.

Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) regulations, overseen by the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), are designed to safeguard the well-being of aviation personnel.

Social media erupted with outrage over the incident, demanding the immediate arrest of the passenger and advocating for his inclusion on the no-fly list. Many emphasized that the pilot and cabin crew were simply performing their duties and should not be subjected to unwarranted aggression.
