Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu reviewed the ongoing works of the Border Roads Organisation’s Project Brahmank on October 6. The review focused on road connectivity, strategic infrastructure and development across the state’s difficult and remote terrain.
Khandu visited the office of the Chief Engineer of Project Brahmank and discussed the progress of several projects. Chief Engineer Pankaj Goyal briefed the chief minister on the organisation’s ongoing work and activities.
Khandu Reviews Project Brahmank Works
During the visit, officials presented details of the roads and infrastructure projects under Project Brahmank. The BRO plays an important role in developing and maintaining strategic road networks across Arunachal Pradesh.
The state’s mountainous terrain creates major challenges for road construction and maintenance. Several remote areas require better connectivity to improve access for residents and support development.
Khandu reviewed the progress of ongoing works and discussed the importance of continued coordination between the state government and the BRO.
Focus on Strategic Connectivity
Strategic connectivity remains a major priority for Arunachal Pradesh. Roads in remote areas can improve access to villages while also supporting the movement of essential services and supplies.
The BRO works across some of the state’s most challenging locations. Its road network connects difficult-to-reach areas with other parts of Arunachal Pradesh.
During the review, Khandu highlighted the importance of these efforts for both connectivity and development. Better roads can support economic activity and improve access to healthcare, education and other services.
BRO Highlights Work in Difficult Terrain
Project Brahmank officials explained the challenges involved in building infrastructure across Arunachal Pradesh. Mountainous landscapes, difficult weather and remote locations can make construction and maintenance complex.
Despite these challenges, BRO personnel continue to work on strategic road infrastructure across the state.
Khandu interacted with BRO officers and personnel during his visit. He acknowledged their work in remote areas and recognised the challenges they face while carrying out infrastructure projects.
Environmental Conservation Also Discussed
The review also covered the BRO’s environmental and social initiatives. These include tree plantation drives under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign, cleanliness programmes and environmental awareness activities.
The organisation has also conducted activities linked to International Yoga Day and social responsibility.
Khandu planted a sapling during his visit. The gesture highlighted the importance of protecting Arunachal Pradesh’s natural environment while expanding infrastructure.
Focus on Personnel Welfare
The chief minister also interacted with officers and personnel working under Project Brahmank. He acknowledged their contribution to infrastructure development in the state.
BRO personnel often work in remote and challenging locations. Their work involves difficult terrain and demanding conditions.
Khandu stressed the importance of continued cooperation between the state government and the organisation. Such coordination can help address infrastructure challenges more effectively.
Connectivity and Tourism Potential
During the programme, Col Ashish Raisinghani presented Khandu with a book showcasing Arunachal Pradesh’s tourism potential.
The publication highlights the state’s mountain landscapes, lesser-known destinations and natural attractions. Better connectivity can also support tourism by making remote destinations more accessible to visitors.
Road development therefore has wider implications for the state’s economy. Improved access can help communities connect with markets and tourism opportunities.
State Government and BRO Strengthen Coordination
The review provided an opportunity for the Arunachal Pradesh government and BRO to discuss areas of mutual importance. These include infrastructure development, connectivity, environmental conservation and social responsibility.
Continued coordination will remain important as Arunachal Pradesh expands its road network and improves access to remote areas.
The state government is also focusing on infrastructure projects that can support long-term development while addressing the needs of communities in difficult terrain.
Strategic Infrastructure Remains a Priority
Khandu’s review of Project Brahmank highlights the importance of road connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh. The state’s geography makes reliable infrastructure essential for both development and access.
The BRO’s ongoing work will continue to play a key role in strengthening road networks across remote areas.
With a focus on strategic connectivity, environmental responsibility and cooperation between agencies, the state aims to improve infrastructure while protecting its fragile natural environment.
