On Sunday, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt conferred the prestigious ‘Order of the Nile’ on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, recognizing his invaluable services to Egypt and humanity. The ‘Order of the Nile’ is Egypt’s highest honor and has been awarded since 1915 to heads of state, crown princes, and vice presidents who have made significant contributions.

The order, made of pure gold, consists of a collar comprising three-square gold units, each symbolizing different aspects. The first unit represents the idea of protecting the state against evil, the second symbolizes the prosperity and happiness brought by the Nile River, and the third signifies wealth and endurance.

This esteemed accolade marks the 13th highest state honor conferred upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Throughout his tenure, he has received numerous honorary awards from various countries, including the United States, Russia, and Middle Eastern nations. Just last month, PM Modi was honored with the highest civilian awards of Fiji and Papua New Guinea for his global leadership and his efforts in championing the cause of the Global South.

In May 2023, during his visit to Papua New Guinea, PM Modi was presented with the Companion of the Order of Logohu, the highest civilian award in Papua New Guinea. This recognition was bestowed upon him for his advocacy of unity among Pacific Island countries and his leadership in the Global South. On the same day, he was also bestowed with the Companion of the Order of Fiji, the highest honor in Fiji, in acknowledgment of his global leadership.

Over the years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received prestigious honors from various nations. In 2016, he was awarded the Order of Abdulaziz Al Saud, the highest honor bestowed upon non-Muslim dignitaries in Saudi Arabia. The same year, he received the State Order of Ghazi Amir Amanullah Khan, Afghanistan’s highest civilian honor. In 2018, he was honored with the Grand Collar of the State of Palestine Award, the highest recognition in Palestine for foreign dignitaries.

He also received Russia’s highest civilian honor, the Order of St. Andrew, in recognition of his distinguished contribution to the strategic partnership between Russia and India. Other notable honors include the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Nishan Izzuddin from the Maldives in 2019, the King Hamad Order of the Renaissance from Bahrain in 2019, and the Legion of Merit from the US Government in 2020.

PM Modi’s remarkable contributions have been recognized beyond national borders. He was awarded the Order of the Druk Gyalpo, Bhutan’s highest civilian decoration, in December 2021. In 2018, he received the Seoul Peace Prize for his efforts in promoting international cooperation and fostering global economic growth. Additionally, he has been honored with prestigious awards like the Champions of The Earth Award for environmental leadership and the Global Goalkeeper Award for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
