Rahul Gandhi’s Actions Criticized by Assam CM Amid Yatra Controversy

In the ongoing conflict between Senior Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the latter accused Gandhi of setting a new standard for cowardice, referring to the recent Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra incident. The Chief Minister alleged that Gandhi, after inciting violence during the Yatra, quietly left the city in a small car after the police denied permission for the Yatra to enter Guwahati.

On Tuesday, Assam Chief Minister Sarma confirmed the registration of a case against several Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, and other party members. The legal action followed clashes between Congress workers and the police, triggered by the denial of permission for Rahul Gandhi’s Yatra.

In a tweet, Chief Minister Sarma detailed the charges against the individuals involved and accused them of wanton acts of violence, provocation, damage to public property, and assault on police personnel.

During a public address in Barpeta, Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on Sarma, alleging his involvement in corruption, land grabbing, and inciting religious divisions. He claimed Sarma uses his power to benefit his businesses and silence dissent.
