Restrictions on movement on the Indo-Bangladesh border in Khowai Sub-division.
To maintain peace and security in public life, the district magistrate of Khowai Sub-division has imposed some restrictions on the Indo-Bangladesh border which will come to effect on 9 June.
As per the source, the restrictions were made after some information of some disturbance on the border. The order imposes certain restrictions on the movement of people within 500 meters of the Indo-Bangladesh border in the subdivision from 8 pm to 5 am the next day under Section 144 of the Indian Penal Code, 1973. The order was imposed because of the interest of the safety of the public of the locality. The state has been experiencing illegal immigrants for many years for which strict orders have been placed by the authority against any illegal immigration action.
Though the security of the district and the state is necessary, the authority also has to keep in mind the facilities and emergencies of the people and for which members of the military, paramilitary, state police forces, law enforcement officers of Khowai district, lawful persons issued by the governor of Khowai sub-division, government employees engaged in urgent government work and persons in need of immediate medical treatment are exempt from this restriction. The people were requested to cooperate and not to panic or cause any problems during the restriction tenure. Violators of these restrictions will be subject to disciplinary action under Section 17 of the IPC.
These restrictions will be effective from June 9, 2022, and will remain in force until August 8, 2022.
