  1. Soak the almonds in water for at least 2 hours.
  2. Peel the almonds and grind them with a little milk into a smooth paste.
  3. In a small glass bowl, steep the saffron strands in lukewarm milk to extract maximum flavor and color.
  4. In a heavy-bottomed, non-stick pan, bring the milk to a boil.
  5. Add the almond paste and simmer while stirring continuously for 10 minutes.
  6. Incorporate the steeped saffron strands and the pureed dates, then continue simmering and stirring for another 5 minutes.
  7. Add the green cardamom powder, mix well, and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Turn off the flame.
  8. Serve the Badami Haalu hot, garnished with slivered almonds, steeped saffron strands, and dried rose petals.
