Key Facts

Lajong Dominate Early Stages

Both teams entered the match with two wins and one draw. However, Lajong quickly took control and repeatedly tested the Meghalaya Police defence.

Freddy Jyrwa and Lalmuansanga created early opportunities within the opening 10 minutes. Soon after, Galbraith Laitmon sent a free-kick narrowly over the crossbar.

Meghalaya Police goalkeeper Eveningstar Bareh then produced an important save to deny Lalmuansanga from close range.

Kharkongor Gives Lajong the Lead

Lajong finally broke the deadlock in the 39th minute. Lalmuansanga moved towards the left flank and delivered a cross into the penalty area.

Ricky Kharkongor connected with the delivery and fired a volley into the net to give Lajong a 1-0 lead.

Kharkongor suffered an injury while scoring and left the field at half-time.

Meghalaya Police struggled to create clear chances before the break. Aldrin Ramsiej’s effort, which went wide, was their best opportunity of the first half.

Lalmuansanga Doubles the Lead

Meghalaya Police looked for an equaliser after the interval. They earned a free-kick just outside the box, but Bikram Chettri’s attempt went over the crossbar.

Lajong then extended their advantage in the 54th minute. A misplaced back pass allowed Lajong to regain possession quickly.

Lalmuansanga raced past the advancing Eveningstar Bareh and calmly placed the ball into the net to make it 2-0.

Lajong Miss Chances to Add More

Lalmuansanga came close to scoring again later in the match. However, he miscued a volley before missing a penalty.

Eveningstar guessed correctly and made a sharp dive to his right to keep Meghalaya Police within two goals.

Lajong continued to threaten in the closing stages. Fridison Wanniang struck the crossbar with a powerful effort, while Pynshailang L Lyngkhoi headed a free-kick over the bar.
