SSC GD Candidates from Tripura Allege Harassment During Physical Tests in Mizoram

A section of SSC GD (Staff Selection Commission, General Duty) candidates from Tripura have alleged harassment and unfair treatment during their ongoing physical efficiency tests (PET), which are being conducted in Aizawl, Mizoram, instead of Tripura.

The candidates said that the physical tests started on August 20 and will continue until September 11. Despite Tripura having examination centres, they were allotted Mizoram as their venue, which they claim has caused severe inconvenience and hardship.

Candidates Face Difficult Conditions

According to the aspirants, the Mizoram venue is located in deep hilly terrain with poor road conditions. They alleged that the ground where the test was conducted was muddy, waterlogged, and extremely difficult to run on. As a result, many candidates failed the test despite adequate preparation.

“Running on such muddy and slippery ground was nearly impossible. Many of us were disqualified not because of lack of fitness, but because of the venue’s condition,” one candidate said.

They further alleged that the decision to shift them outside Tripura was unnecessary, as the state already has suitable grounds and infrastructure to conduct such physical tests.

Allegations of Intentional Harassment

The candidates expressed suspicion that the move to send them outside the state was an intentional step to harass and disadvantage them. “Tripura has its own facilities for physical tests. Forcing us to travel and appear in Mizoram feels like deliberate harassment,” another aspirant alleged.

Some candidates were able to qualify despite the tough conditions, but the majority failed. They believe the results would have been different if the test was conducted in their home state.

Protest at Tripura High Court

In response, the aggrieved aspirants have decided to stage a protest in front of the Tripura High Court on Monday. They have appealed to the media and news outlets to highlight their grievances so that the concerned authorities, including the SSC, take note of their situation.

The candidates demanded that all future physical tests for Tripura aspirants be conducted within the state itself to ensure fair and equal opportunities.

“We only want a fair chance to compete. Conducting our tests in Mizoram under such conditions is not fair. We demand that future SSC GD tests for Tripura candidates must be held in Tripura,” they stated.

Call for Justice

The candidates are now waiting for a response from the authorities. They emphasized that their demand is not for special treatment, but for fairness in the recruitment process.

Their immediate demand is that Tripura be included as the venue for future SSC GD physical tests so that no aspirant faces similar challenges in the future.
