Sushanta Chowdhury Leads Discussion on Agartala’s Weekend Tourist Center

In Agartala, a high-level review meeting was conducted at the Secretariat to assess the impact and concerns surrounding the recently inaugurated Weekend Tourist Center, known as the Weekend Hub, located in front of the State Museum Ujjayanta Palace. The meeting, chaired by State Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, gathered key officials to discuss various facets of the Hub’s operations and public reactions.

The comprehensive review involved insights from officials considering diverse public opinions, ranging from support to criticism, and a thorough analysis of the pros and cons since the Hub’s inception. Critical topics addressed during the meeting included traffic management intricacies and broader associated concerns.

Minister Sushanta Chowdhury scrutinized these aspects, providing crucial directives and guidance to concerned officials for immediate action. Participants in the meeting included the Superintendent of Police for West District, Traffic Police Superintendent, Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Sadar, and other key stakeholders such as the Additional Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Managing Director of Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited, Director of Information and Culture Department, Additional District Magistrate of West District, and more.

Deliberations focused on a holistic evaluation of the Weekend Hub’s impact on the community, challenges in ensuring smooth traffic flow, and pertinent concerns arising from its operations. The Weekend Hub, situated in front of the iconic Ujjayanta Palace, had been a commendable initiative but was temporarily suspended post the Durga Puja festival to prevent excessive crowds. While generating curiosity, the Hub also led to severe traffic snarls during weekends in the city.

The meeting served as a platform for collaborative discussions, emphasizing the need for strategic solutions to address challenges and enhance the positive impact of the Weekend Hub on both tourists and the local community.
