Tipra Motha Party (TMP) MLAs on Monday, August 31, demanded an inquiry into the order in which legislators’ questions appeared in the Tripura Legislative Assembly. The TMP members alleged that the Assembly listed their questions at the end despite the party submitting them before those of other legislators.
TMP MLA Ranjit Debbarma raised the issue during the third and final day of the Assembly session. He said the party’s MLAs had struggled to raise public issues during the session. Following an assurance from Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Speaker Rampada Jamatia agreed to investigate the matter.

TMP MLAs Raise Question Placement Issue

Other TMP MLAs Support Demand
TMP MLAs Biswajit Kalai and Sanjoy Manik Tripura also raised concerns over the issue.
They claimed that no other legislators had submitted questions when they filed theirs. Therefore, they argued that the Assembly should have given their questions appropriate priority.
The MLAs also raised concerns about a possible conspiracy behind the placement of their questions. They subsequently demanded a fresh inquiry to establish how the list was prepared.
Speaker Agrees to Investigation
The issue led to discussion inside the Assembly on the final day of the session.
Later, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath assured the TMP MLAs that the matter would receive attention. Following the assurance, Assembly Speaker Rampada Jamatia agreed to conduct an investigation into the placement of the questions.
The inquiry is expected to clarify how the questions were arranged and whether officials followed the established procedure while preparing the list.
