Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Friday announced that the state has attracted investment proposals worth nearly ₹3,800 crore across several sectors. The government signed 87 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with more than 120 investors during the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2025 held in Agartala.
The Governor shared the update while addressing the opening day of the 9th session of the 13th Tripura Legislative Assembly, highlighting the state’s economic progress, policy reforms, and development initiatives.

Tripura Records Strong Tax Growth
The Governor also highlighted the state’s strong fiscal performance during the 2025–26 financial year up to October 2025. According to official figures, the government recorded steady growth in tax collections.
The revenue data shows:
- GST collections: ₹994.23 crore
- VAT collections: ₹281.40 crore
- Excise Duty: ₹271.48 crore
- Professional Tax: ₹26.85 crore
These numbers indicate rising economic activity and stronger tax compliance across the state.
Government Launches New Policies
Meanwhile, the state government introduced several policies to strengthen entrepreneurship and improve governance.
First, the government launched the Tripura Women Entrepreneurship Policy 2025. This policy aims to expand market access, financial support, and training opportunities for women entrepreneurs.
In addition, the government enacted the Tripura Jan Vishwas Act to promote trust-based governance and reduce unnecessary regulatory burdens.
As a result, these reforms aim to create a more business-friendly environment in the state.
Tripura Achieves Major Literacy Milestone
Tripura also achieved a major milestone in education. On June 23, 2025, the state reached a literacy rate of 95.6 percent and became a fully literate state.
Consequently, Tripura became the third state in India to reach this level of literacy.
The state achieved this milestone under the ULLAS Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram, which supports the goals of the National Education Policy 2020.
State Wins Renewable Energy Recognition
Tripura also received national recognition in the renewable energy sector. The state installed the highest number of solar pumps under the PM-KUSUM scheme.
Because of this achievement, authorities awarded Tripura the Best Performing State title under the programme.
The initiative helps farmers adopt solar-powered irrigation systems, which reduce electricity costs and promote clean energy.
Government Plans Major Education Expansion
The Governor also outlined several future plans to strengthen higher education infrastructure.
The state government plans to:
- Upgrade Women’s College in Agartala into a Women’s University
- Convert Tripura Institute of Technology into a State Technical University
- Establish three new competitive examination centres in Agartala, Udaipur, and Ambassa
These initiatives will help students access better higher education and competitive exam preparation facilities within the state.
Road Network Expands Across Tripura
In addition, the Governor highlighted improvements in infrastructure. Currently, Tripura maintains a road network of about 10,617 kilometres.
This network includes national highways, district roads, urban roads, and rural roads. As a result, connectivity within the state has improved significantly.
Better roads also support trade, tourism, and regional connectivity.
