State leadership sets campaign goals
BJP leaders in the tribal wing have chalked out a month-long campaign targeting village councils under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). The state unit plans to cover remote areas through door-to-door campaigns, padyatras, and public meetings.
According to party insiders, the focus will be on reiterating the BJP-led government’s efforts in tribal welfare. Leaders believe that consistent outreach, especially in hilly and rural zones, will yield electoral gains.
Empowering tribal communities
The campaign will also aim to empower tribal youth and women. The Janajati Morcha is expected to organize special programs focusing on entrepreneurship, skill training, and education awareness. These initiatives are designed to engage the younger generation in political dialogue and governance participation.
In recent years, the BJP government in Tripura has implemented several welfare schemes directed at Scheduled Tribes. These include enhanced scholarship distribution, infrastructure development in TTAADC areas, and better health services. The Morcha will use these achievements as talking points throughout the campaign.
Message of development and peace
Leaders of the Morcha are crafting a narrative around peace and progress. They plan to visit areas previously dominated by opposition parties and promote BJP’s policies on law and order, job creation, and social welfare.
Campaign convener Purna Jamatia told reporters that the tribal wing has received clear instructions from the state leadership. “We are going to reach every voter in the ADC region. Our goal is to show that the BJP delivers what it promises,” he said.
The campaign slogan will focus on “Ek Tripura, Shrestha Tripura,” emphasizing unity across communities. Jamatia noted that the tribal population has become more politically aware and will reward honest efforts over rhetoric.
TTAADC: A crucial political ground
The TTAADC region includes over 500 villages and accounts for nearly one-third of Tripura’s population. While the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) currently holds control of the ADC, the BJP is determined to regain influence.
In the last ADC elections, BJP and its ally IPFT faced a setback. Since then, the party has restructured its strategy to better connect with the tribal electorate. The upcoming campaign is seen as a trial run ahead of larger political battles, including the 2028 Assembly polls.
BJP’s Janajati Morcha has also strengthened its coordination with the state government. Several tribal ministers have promised logistical support and are expected to participate in field visits.
Addressing regional issues
The party’s campaign will also highlight efforts to solve regional problems such as drinking water scarcity, lack of road connectivity, and education dropouts. Special focus will be given to villages affected by floods and border-related issues.
“We are making a note of all local grievances. Our volunteers will not only campaign but also collect feedback. The data will be forwarded to the government for quick redressal,” a district-level leader said.
Apart from political messaging, the campaign will include cultural programs and sports events to build rapport with youth and community leaders. Tribal artists, dancers, and musicians will participate in various events across ADC villages.
Opposition in response mode
The move by the BJP tribal wing has triggered reactions from opposition parties, especially the TMP. TMP leaders have accused BJP of ignoring tribal autonomy and failing to protect tribal land rights. However, BJP leaders argue that they have always supported TTAADC’s financial and administrative empowerment.
The campaign will likely intensify the political contest between the two parties. Analysts say the tribal vote will be a decisive factor not just in ADC elections, but also in shaping future state politics.
Building long-term connections
Beyond electoral wins, BJP’s Janajati Morcha wants to build lasting connections. They have started training grassroots workers to manage polling booths, interact with voters, and explain government schemes effectively.
Workshops will also be held to educate the public about voter rights, enrollment procedures, and the significance of local governance. BJP plans to ensure high voter turnout through awareness drives.
Party spokespersons emphasized that the campaign is not just about votes but about building trust. “We are committed to inclusive growth. Tribal communities deserve recognition and resources, and that’s our message,” a senior state leader said.
