Nari Adalat to Strengthen Grassroots Justice
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment launched the Nari Adalat scheme to provide justice at the panchayat level. Tripura will now implement the scheme in selected gram panchayats across all eight districts.
Each Nari Adalat will function as a local arbitration forum to address cases related to atrocities against women. The committee, comprising up to nine respected community members, will examine complaints and recommend police action when necessary.
Through this initiative, the state government aims to ensure quicker grievance redressal and empower women at the grassroots level.
Coaching Support for National Competitive Exams
The cabinet has also approved detailed guidelines to support Tripura domiciled graduates preparing for national competitive examinations such as UPSC, SSC, RRB and IBPS.
To facilitate this programme, the government will set up coaching centres at:
- Bir Chandra State Central Library in Agartala
- Netaji Subhash Mahavidyalaya in Udaipur
- Government Degree College in Ambassa
Each centre will accommodate 100 candidates. Authorities will select aspirants through a merit-based screening process. The initiative seeks to improve the success rate of Tripura’s youth in securing central government jobs and enhance career opportunities for graduates.
SC Hostel Stipend Increased
In a significant relief measure, the cabinet increased the daily stipend for Scheduled Caste (SC) hostel boarders from Rs 80 to Rs 100. This decision will directly benefit 712 students across the state.
By raising the stipend, the government aims to reduce financial stress on students from economically weaker sections and support their academic progress.
Recruitment in Health and Revenue Departments
The cabinet also approved fresh recruitment in important departments to strengthen public services. The Health Department will recruit 32 junior drivers to improve operational efficiency.
Additionally, authorities will fill 16 posts, including revenue inspectors and assistant survey officers, through due recruitment procedures.
Focus on Inclusive Development
Through these decisions, the Tripura government has reinforced its focus on women’s empowerment, youth development, social welfare and administrative strengthening. The Nari Adalat pilot, expanded coaching support and enhanced student benefits reflect the state’s commitment to inclusive governance and grassroots development.
