Speaking at the State Level Toolkits Distribution Ceremony in Agartala, Dr. Saha said that the government is currently training 35,000 candidates under the Tripura Skill and Entrepreneurship Policy 2024. The focus areas include renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and IT services. These courses aim to prepare youth for future industries and expand employment opportunities across the state.

“Our goal is to empower people, not make them dependent,” he said. “Skill development helps individuals build confidence and earn with pride. That is real empowerment.”

Skill Training to Empower Bru Migrants

The toolkit distribution marks a new chapter in the rehabilitation of the Bru community, which resettled in Tripura after years of displacement. The government, through its skill development mission, is ensuring that these families can now live self-reliant lives.

He explained that renewable energy is becoming a growing sector, and Tripura aims to train local youth to take leadership roles in solar and green energy projects. Similarly, digital skill courses are being introduced in collaboration with private companies to enhance employability.

Focus on Entrepreneurship and Self-Employment

Dr. Saha encouraged trainees to use their skills to start small businesses or self-employment ventures. He said the government is promoting a culture of entrepreneurship through the Tripura Rural Economic Growth Mission.
