Tripura: Cricket Association to Investigate Graft Allegations Amidst Administrative Reformation

In a pivotal development, the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) has given the green light to an impartial investigation into allegations of multi-crore graft linked to the installation of floodlights at the MBB Cricket Stadium. The decision was made during a general body meeting convened in compliance with the Tripura High Court’s directives.

The controversy has cast a shadow over TCA’s operations for the past month, marked by a power struggle between two influential factions of office-bearers, both aligned with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Seeking resolution, the conflicting groups turned to the High Court, which mandated cooperation between the association’s President and General Secretary.

Addressing the media, TCA President Tapan Lodh acknowledged the demand for an inquiry into the alleged corruption surrounding the floodlight installation. Lodh emphasized unanimous support for the investigation among the General Body members and affirmed the association’s readiness to cooperate with any state-led inquiry.

During the ongoing investigation, all pertinent documents and files will remain in the sealed custody of the President. The allegations have implicated TCA’s General Secretary, Tapas Ghosh, and Vice President, Timir Chanda, both of whom were present at the meeting.

In a further display of progress, the general body also approved a series of decisions pertaining to the reconstitution of advisory, selection, and umpire committees. Furthermore, the appointment of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and a policy decision regarding participation in national tournaments received the association’s endorsement.

As the TCA moves forward with the inquiry and reforms, stakeholders hope that transparency and accountability will restore the organization’s integrity and pave the way for a renewed era in Tripura cricket.
