Tripura: GRP Tripura Nabs 6 in Interstate Drug Racket, Seizes 65 kg Ganja

Government Railway Police (GRP) in Tripura apprehended six individuals associated with an interstate drug racket at Agartala Railway Station on November 26, 2023. The operation resulted in the confiscation of a substantial 65 kilograms of dry ganja from their possession.

Acting on intelligence and in collaboration with relevant authorities, the GRP conducted a targeted operation to thwart the illicit activities of the drug syndicate. The six suspects, believed to be part of a larger network involved in the transportation and distribution of narcotics, were taken into custody.

The seized contraband, weighing 65 kilograms, highlights the scale of the operation and the potential impact it could have had on the local drug trade. The successful intervention by the GRP underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to curbing the flow of illegal substances within the state.

A case has been registered against the apprehended individuals under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, signaling a stringent legal response to their alleged involvement in drug trafficking. The NDPS Act provides the legal framework for tackling offenses related to illicit substances, emphasizing the severity with which such crimes are treated.
