Tripura: Information Technology Minister Launches Chief Minister Youth Communication Scheme to Empower Students

In a bid to promote Digital India and enhance the success of the Digital Tripura program, Information Technology Minister Pranajit Singha Roy inaugurated the Chief Minister Youth Communication Scheme for the academic year 2023-24. The ceremony took place at the Information Technology Building in Indranagar on Friday.

Minister Pranajit Singha Roy underscored the essential role smartphones play in the academic journey of students, emphasizing their significance in contributing to the overall development of the state. He expressed confidence in students’ ability to play a pivotal role in advancing the goals of Digital India and Digital Tripura.

During the inauguration, Minister Roy announced that final-year students enrolled in all government educational institutions in the state are eligible to apply for the scheme until January 15, 2024. Interested students can submit their applications through the BMS portal at https://bms.tripura.gov.in. The government aims to provide financial assistance directly to the students’ bank accounts.

Minister Roy highlighted the critical role smartphones play in facilitating online courses and classes for students. To support students in acquiring this essential electronic device, the government, through the Chief Minister Youth Communication Scheme, will offer a maximum assistance of Rs. 5,000 to each student for purchasing a smartphone.

Recognizing that some parents may face financial constraints in providing smartphones to their children, Minister Roy emphasized the government’s commitment to bridging this gap through the Chief Minister Youth Communication Scheme. The initiative aims to ensure that students across Tripura have access to the necessary tools for a seamless and enriching educational experience.

The launch of this scheme aligns with the government’s broader vision to empower the youth, foster digital literacy, and create a more inclusive educational environment. As students embrace digital learning, the Chief Minister Youth Communication Scheme stands as a key enabler in promoting accessibility and equity in education throughout the state.
