Tripura Launches App-Based Cab and Auto Services, Metaverse Tourism at Key Entry Points

Tripura launches app-based cab, auto services, metaverse tourism at key entry points

Tripura has launched app-based cab and auto-rickshaw services at major entry points to improve travel convenience for passengers and tourists. The state has also introduced a Tourism Information Centre (TIC) and a metaverse-based tourism experience at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala.

Transport, Food and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury formally inaugurated the new facilities at the airport on September 3. The government also launched the app-based transport services virtually at Agartala Railway Station and Jogendranagar Railway Station.

The initiatives mark another step in Tripura’s efforts to modernise transport and tourism services. The government hopes that better connectivity and digital services will improve the experience of visitors arriving in the state.

App-Based Cab and Auto Services Begin at Key Entry Points

The new transport services focus on one major concern for travellers: reaching their destinations easily after arriving at an airport or railway station.

Passengers arriving at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport can now access app-based cab and auto-rickshaw services. Similar facilities have also started at Agartala and Jogendranagar railway stations.

The services aim to make last-mile travel simpler and more convenient. Travellers often need immediate transport after completing their journey by air or rail. The new system gives them more options when they arrive.

Passengers can choose between prepaid auto-rickshaw services and online cab bookings. This flexibility allows travellers to select a service that suits their needs and preferences.

The government expects the initiative to improve connectivity between Tripura’s major transport hubs and other destinations across the state.

Sushanta Chowdhury Highlights Need for Modern Transport

Speaking at the inaugural programme, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury stressed the growing importance of technology in transport and tourism.

He said modern and technology-driven services can help Tripura attract more visitors from different parts of India.

Chowdhury pointed out that Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport already offers modern infrastructure. However, the visitor experience does not end inside the airport.

Travellers also judge a destination by the services available after they leave the terminal. Difficulties in finding convenient transport can create a negative first impression.

The government therefore introduced app-based cab and auto-rickshaw services with passenger convenience in mind.

Chowdhury said passengers can select either a prepaid auto-rickshaw or an online cab according to their requirements. The system aims to give travellers easier and more organised transport options.

He also said the Tripura government would modernise the state’s transport system gradually. The government plans to consider public demand while keeping pace with developments in other states.

Focus on Better Last-Mile Connectivity

Last-mile connectivity plays an important role in the overall travel experience. A traveller may reach an airport or railway station comfortably but still face difficulties during the final part of the journey.

The new app-based transport services seek to address this issue.

Passengers can now access organised transport options at some of Tripura’s most important arrival points. This can reduce uncertainty for visitors who may not know the local transport system.

The services can prove particularly useful for tourists visiting Tripura for the first time. Visitors often need quick and reliable information about transport after reaching a new destination.

By placing these services at airports and railway stations, the government aims to improve convenience from the beginning of a visitor’s journey in Tripura.

The initiative also brings air and rail travellers into a more technology-driven transport framework.

Tourism Information Centre Introduces Metaverse Experience

Along with the new transport facilities, Tripura has launched a Tourism Information Centre at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport.

The centre aims to help visitors learn more about the state’s tourist destinations and attractions.

One of its major features is the metaverse-based tourism experience. The digital platform allows visitors to explore tourist destinations in Tripura through virtual experiences.

This technology can give tourists an introduction to different places before they decide where to travel.

Visitors can use the platform to gain a better understanding of Tripura’s tourism offerings. The virtual experience can also help them plan their journeys within the state.

The government hopes that technology will make tourism information more engaging and accessible.

The metaverse initiative represents a new approach to destination promotion. Instead of relying only on brochures or traditional displays, the centre offers visitors a more immersive digital experience.

Hospitality and Visitor Experience Remain Key Priorities

Chowdhury also highlighted the importance of hospitality in developing a strong tourism sector.

He said tourism depends on more than tourist attractions alone. Visitors also consider transportation, accommodation, food and the quality of hospitality.

A smooth and comfortable experience can encourage tourists to return to a destination. It can also encourage them to recommend the place to others.

The minister stressed that Tripura must create a positive experience for visitors at every stage of their journey.

Convenient transportation can play an important role in this process. Easy access to cabs and auto-rickshaws can make travel less stressful for passengers.

Similarly, better tourism information can help visitors make informed choices about places to explore.

The government believes that positive experiences can strengthen Tripura’s image across India and beyond.

Technology to Support Tripura’s Tourism Growth

The combination of app-based transport and metaverse tourism shows Tripura’s increasing focus on technology.

Digital services now play a growing role in the tourism industry. Travellers often use mobile applications and online platforms to plan their journeys.

Tripura’s new initiatives aim to respond to these changing expectations.

The app-based cab and auto services offer a technology-supported solution to transport needs. Meanwhile, the metaverse platform offers a digital introduction to the state’s tourist destinations.

Together, the initiatives can make travel more convenient and tourism information more accessible.

The government also hopes that these services will strengthen tourism management at key entry points.

Tripura Takes a Step Towards Modern Tourism and Transport

The September 3 launch marks an important step in Tripura’s efforts to modernise its transport and tourism infrastructure.

Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala Railway Station and Jogendranagar Railway Station serve as important gateways for passengers entering the state. The introduction of app-based transport services at these locations can improve the first experience of many travellers.

At the same time, the Tourism Information Centre and metaverse-based platform offer visitors a new way to discover Tripura.

The initiatives combine connectivity, convenience and technology at major entry points.

As Tripura continues to develop its tourism sector, services that improve transport and visitor experience could play an important role. The new app-based cab and auto services, along with the metaverse tourism initiative, aim to make the state more accessible, modern and visitor-friendly.
